Savings tips for the new 2.0TD electricity tariff

With the entry into force, last June 1, of the new electricity tariffs, you probably have many doubts about what to do with your consumption habits so that your electricity bill is not negatively affected. In this article we are going to list a series of tips that will allow you to save considerably on the energy costs of your home or business.

Avoid using electrical appliances during peak hours.

As you know, the new price of electricity is segmented into different time periods. Therefore, we recommend you to take advantage of the cheapest ones:

  • Off-peak hours. The cheapest of all. From 12 midnight to 8 a.m. and throughout the weekend.
  • Flat schedule. Slightly more expensive than off-peak hours, but without the high cost of peak hours. Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and from 10 p.m. to 12 midnight.

According to the Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU), it is possible to save approximately 130 euros per year by adapting to these two schedules.

In addition, if you avoid turning on several appliances at the same time during peak hours, you will be saving between 200 and 300 euros per year, as reported by the National Commission for Markets and Competition (CNMC).

Completely disconnect your electrical appliances

It is very common to turn off electrical appliances but not to disconnect them from the mains. This plunges them into a state of minimum energy performance called "stand-by", which entails a relatively significant economic cost in the electricity bill. In fact, according to a study by IDAE (Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving), "stand-by" accounts for 10.7% of total consumption, which translates into approximately 50 euros per year.

Therefore, we recommend that you completely disconnect your electrical appliances from the electricity supply, including phone chargers, if you do not plan to use them for a long period of time.

Improve the energy efficiency of your home or business

Improving energy efficiency can significantly reduce energy consumption. Replacing your old appliances with a poor energy labeling for new ones more adapted to these new requirements will mean a great saving in your electricity bill.

In addition, improving the insulation of the house by cladding the facade, installing new windows or using LED bulbs are other measures that will allow you to adjust your electricity tariff.

All this will also mean an added commitment to sustainability and care for the environment, since an efficient home reduces the emission of polluting substances. As you know, in LoGOs we are very involved with this type of issues and, therefore, we commercialize green energy and we are immersed in projects for the creation of different Biogas plants in Cantabria promoting recycling and circular economy to obtain natural gas and hydrogen in a totally ecological way.

Save with the contracted power

The new 2.0TD electricity tariffs include a difference with respect to the previous ones. We are talking about the possibility of contracting two different types of power, one for the peak and flat periods, and the other for the valley. While the former costs 30.67 euros per year per kW, the latter costs only 1.42 euros/year/kW.

Reducing the power during the day and increasing it at night and on weekends will allow double savings:

  • During the day, when energy use will be lower, the cost of each kW will be cheaper.
  • At night and on weekends, we will be able to use all our electrical appliances without the fear of increasing our electricity bill. Grouping all our energy consumption in off-peak hours will result in maximum savings.

Adapting the contracted power to consumption habits has become extremely important.

Opting for self-consumption of energy

The installation of solar panels will allow you to take advantage of sunlight and use self-consumption for certain energy tasks.

In LoGOs Energy we handle the installation of solar panels as homes, businesses and farms, so if you are considering this option do not hesitate to contact us.

Thanks to self-consumption you can save on your electricity bill, control electricity consumption autonomously and also collaborate with the care of the environment.

In addition, you can get extra discounts of up to 25% in the IBI (Real Estate Tax) and 90% in the ICIO (Tax on Construction, Installations and Works).

Now, more than ever, choosing the right tariff is very important. At LoGOs we offer fully customized electricity tariffs adapted to the consumption and needs of your home or business, which can also include different maintenance services.
